Journeyman Boilermaker

The Journeyman Boilermaker will be responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and repair of boilers and pressure vessels, ensuring all equipment is functional and meets safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel as required to job sites to perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the assembly and disassembly of boilers and related equipment.
  • Install, replace, and repair various parts of boiler systems, including tubes, fittings, valves, and related components.
  • Inspect and test boiler components to identify defects or areas requiring repair or replacement.
  • Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine job specifications and requirements.
  • Fabricate, fit, and weld components using precise measurements and welding techniques.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on boilers to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding boiler operation and safety.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other trade professionals to optimize boiler performance and implement improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Use problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Contribute to project planning and execution, ensuring timely completion and quality results.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have completed a recognized apprenticeship program or hold a Journeyman Boilermaker certification.
  • Strong understanding of boiler construction, maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and following blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions.
  • Capable of performing varied fabrication and welding tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and to work in confined spaces and at heights.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Boilermaker or similar position in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with boiler systems, pressure vessels, and auxiliary equipment.

This position demands an individual who is committed to excellence in craftsmanship and safety, with the ability to travel to fulfill job requirements and ensure that all boiler systems are maintained to the highest standards.

RCES Technician

Company Description

RCES, now part of GCB Industries, is a global service provider located in Houston, Texas. We offer expert-level field services for industrial-scale combustion equipment. With over 30 years of startup and combustion experience, RCES specializes in servicing Boiler Burner, OTSG Burner, Duct Burner, rotary kiln, air heating, and vaporization combustion equipment. Our in-house expertise includes new and retrofit product selection, site project management, consulting, and turnkey services to assist with your next major combustion project.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Combustion Service Engineer/Technician at RCES. The role involves troubleshooting, burner startup field service, burner tuning, technical support, and maintenance & repair of industrial-scale combustion equipment. The engineer/technician will be responsible for ensuring proper functioning, diagnosing and resolving issues, and providing technical support for customers.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Burner Troubleshooting and Maintenance & Repair skills
  • Combustion analyzer experience and tuning knowledge to achieve specified targets
  • Field Service and Communication skills
  • Technical Support knowledge with burners, flame safeguard systems and firing rate control methodologies
  • Experience in industrial-scale combustion equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel extensively for on-site visits

Good to Have items

  • Experience with all major burner manufacturers, Honeywell, Coen, Maxon, Zeeco, Faber, Cleaver Brooks, Eclipse, Hauk
  • Experience with all styles of firing rate controls, including parallel positioning, gas ratio, linkage systems, and fully metered
  • Calibration and setup experience with pressure switches, transmitters and actuators
  • Experience with various burner flame safeguard and PLC control systems such as Allen Bradley, Honeywell Slate, Siemens LMV, Maxon Smartlink MRV, etc.

Boiler/Burner Technician

The Boiler/Burner Technician will handle servicing, wiring, firing, and testing of commercial and industrial boilers on-site, ensuring that critical customer equipment is always prepared and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Required travel to job sites.
  • Expertise in major boiler control systems and general boiler and burner functionality.
  • Carry out wiring for watertube and firetube boilers and auxiliary systems.
  • Construct and test control panels following engineering schematics and layouts.
  • Conduct tests on condensate tanks and deaerators.
  • Execute start-up procedures for rental boilers in the field.
  • Collaborate with other departments when necessary.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and schematics.
  • Diagnose, fire, and set combustion on various boilers and process heaters.
  • Set combustion on boilers equipped with varied electronic and pneumatic controls.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of tools, analyzers, and monitors, ensuring proper condition.
  • Utilize problem-solving, creativity, adaptability, and management skills to achieve outcomes.
  • Complete tasks and manage company projects efficiently and economically.
  • Provide support to colleagues and management on both internal and external projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading and following blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal guidance accurately.
  • Extensive understanding of boiler controls.
  • Strong background in mechanical and electrical systems required.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Skilled in retrofitting control systems in the field.
  • Capable of diagnosing issues without schematics.

Experience

Minimum two (2) years of experience working  on boiler combustion and controls.
